Soraya Nour Sckell is a full professor at NOVA School of Law, Universidade Nova de Lisboa. She is the director of CEDIS (NOVA School of Law) and a researcher at the Centre of Philosophy of the University of Lisbon. She was the Principal Investigator of the project "Cosmopolitanism: Justice, Democracy and Citizenship without Borders" (PTDC/FER-FIL/30686/2017, 2018-2022). She received the Franco-German Friendship Award (German Embassy in Paris) in 2012 and in 2018 she received the Wolfgang Kaupen-Preis Award for research in the sociology of law (German Society for Sociology, Sociology of Law Section,). She received her PhD in philosophy from the University Paris Nanterre and the Goethe University Frankfurt (2012, under the supervision of A. Honneth and Ch. Lazzeri) and in law from the University of Sao Paulo (1999, under the supervision of V. M. Rangel). She did post-doc research at the Universities of Saint Louis (SLU), Nanterre, Frankfurt a.M. and Berlin (Humboldt University) and taught at the Universities of São Paulo, Munich, Metz, Lille, and Lisbon, as well as at the University Portucalense. She was director of the research program on cosmopolitanism at the Collège International de Philosophie in Paris (2013-2019) and is vice president of the Association Humboldt France.

É Investigadora Principal do projeto financiado pela FCT “Cosmopolitismo: justiça, democracia e cidadania sem fronteiras” (PTDC/FER-FIL/30686/2017). Recebeu o Prémio Wolfgang Kaupen (Sociedade Alemã de Sociologia, seção Sociologia do Direito, 2018) e o Prémio da Amizade Franco-Alemã (Embaixada da Alemanha em Paris, 2012). É doutora em Filosofia pela Universidade Paris Nanterre e pela Universidade Goethe Frankfurt am Main (tese em cotutela, 2012) e doutora em Direito pela USP-Universidade de São Paulo (1999). Fez pós-doutoramento nas Universidades de Saint Louis (SLU), Nanterre, Frankfurt am Main e Berlim (Universidade Humboldt) e lecionou nas Universidades de São Paulo, Munique, Metz, Lille e Lisboa. Ex-bolsista da Fundação Alexander von Humboldt e ex-diretora do programa de investigação sobre cosmopolitismo no Collège International de Philosophie em Paris (2013-2019). É vice-presidente da Association Humboldt France.
